About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer to join our dedicated Student Services Team at the EFI.

The Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer will support, safeguard, enable and champion the success of all students by providing front line and responsive advice, guidance, and referral to other services within and beyond the Student Services Team. They will respond to the needs of students, including acting as a designated safeguarding lead, providing pastoral care, practical advice, and working as part of a team delivering an exceptional student support experience. The post holder will be personable, highly compassionate, skilled active listener with an interest in wellbeing and education.

This role’s purpose is to ensure all students across the EFI Group, including the most vulnerable, make excellent progress both academically and with their social and emotional development. This post is part of the personal progression team, they will be first aid trained, DSL trained, and be prepared for receiving and managing disclosures in line with the EFI Safeguarding Policy.

About you

  • You will have a proven track record of operating at a similar role in a similar environment.
  • You will have a Safeguarding qualification or be willing to undertake this this.
  • You will have a comprehensive understanding of pastoral care issues and support measures and effective boundary management skills.
  • You will have an understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing and equality and diversity issues as it relates to this role.
  • Good knowledge of learner needs and issues facing young people is essential.
  • You will have good organisational, planning, time management and administrative skills and good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • You will have the ability to communicate with confidence with a wide range of people and the ability to listen with understanding and be able to relate to social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties in such a manner that will enhance student’s self-esteem.
  • You will have the ability to build rapport quickly with learners and colleagues, to develop positive, cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • You will be a role model for appropriate and aspirational behaviours for learners.
  • You will have a commitment to and passion for development and progression of all learners
  • You will have a flexible, resilient, and positive attitude.

Salary:  

From £26,550 to £29,500 per annum, subject to qualifications and experience
